The examination body has announced plans to introduce a biometric attendance system as part of its efforts to improve and modernize educational assessment processes.
According to the statement, the move is part of ongoing innovations aimed at delivering world-class examination services and will gradually replace the current electronic attendance system that relies on candidates’ smart cards (identity cards).

As a result of this transition, the smart cards, which previously also contained Result Checker PINs, will no longer be issued for candidates participating in the 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates examination.
The examination authority, however, assured candidates that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure easy access to result-checking details. Candidates have been advised to visit serial-pin.waec.org and enter their examination information online to obtain their Result Checker PINs for seamless access to their results when released.
The body also expressed appreciation to stakeholders for their continued support and cooperation towards ensuring the successful conduct of the examination process.
